Liquid Cooling Innovation Boosts Performance in Existing Data Centers

German engineering company technotrans has unveiled a new retrofit solution for data center cooling, enabling existing facilities to significantly improve performance without major infrastructure changes. This development comes alongside a major order win for technotrans, supplying cooling systems for high-performance servers in the United States.

The new offering caters to the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, which require ever-increasing computing power. Traditional air cooling systems struggle to meet these demands due to limitations in heat dissipation. technotrans' liquid cooling solution offers a more efficient alternative, directly cooling servers with liquid for improved performance.

This innovative solution is designed to be easily integrated into existing data centers. The "plug-and-play" system features compact slide-in units that cool servers directly on demand. Waste heat from the cooled servers can be dispersed into the server room via room air or channeled to a central building cooling system, potentially contributing to overall building climate control.

"The rapid growth of AI-based applications significantly increases the demands on computing power," said Michael Finger, CEO of technotrans SE. "Liquid cooling is needed to achieve the required performance."

This new development strengthens technotrans' position in the data center cooling market. The company now offers solutions for both new data center builds and existing facilities looking to modernize their infrastructure. With series production set to begin shortly, technotrans is poised to capitalize on the rapidly growing market for data center liquid cooling solutions. The initial order, valued in the single-digit million euro range, is expected to be followed by additional contracts as demand for AI-driven applications continues to surge.
